Flow Mow Electronic Cruise Report
CTD Station 10
- Purpose: Measure water properties during northward (predicted) flow to assess how much heat may be entering/leaving the MEF through the sides of the ABE survey "box."
- Summary: Strong, multiple, distinct plumes mostly between 1900-2100m, with some <100m above the seafloor. Found a rising (buoyant) plume in the same location along the line twice, but on separate passes along the line. Moved off line towards the end to explore buoyant plume and ended up ~20m directly above Hulk (hoping to reference the long-baseline navigation with existing geological maps). Water samples were acquired from the buoyant plume (source ~40m N of Hulk?), possible nearby diffuse flow, and Hulk.
