Animated GIFs
One of the features of the GIF89a specification is the ability to
connect multiple images within a GIF and use these as an animation.
Here's an example involving the progress of solid (blue) and liquid
(red) composition as mantle material melts:
Information on
GIF-based animations has been compiled by Royal Frazier. To build this
example I made use of a series of GIFs that already existed in my Ocean 540 lecure
notes and constructed the animation with Alchemy Mindworks's GIF Construction Set for
Windows.
