ALVIN Instrumentation and Data Logging
The ALVIN data system records data from a variety of sensors installed
in and on the vehicle. These include parameters related to navigation
(travel times and frequencies of transponders, depth, altitude), vehicle attitude
(heading, pitch, roll), environmental (various temperature probes), and
vehicle status (variable ballast, camera counters). There is also
provision for specialized logging; specifically for this cruise data
from the Mesotech scanning sonar were acquired.
