Mixing Zephyr Program
Camera and Temperature Probe Deployments

Cameras:

Three cameras were deployed at different locations within the Endeavour field. All were programmed to film five seconds of video at one hour intervals.

Camera #1 Originally activated 6/8/95 at 2154. Deployed 6/10/95 at Milli-Q with Temperature Probe #2 and recovered 6/15/95 for inspection. Reactivated 6/16/95 at 2015. Launched via elevator 6/17/95 at 0715. Redeployed 6/17/95 at Grotto, marker BA, with Temperature Probe #5.

Camera #2 Activated 6/12/95 at 1448. Launched via elevator 6/14/95 at 1740. Deployed 6/15/95 at Canneport, marker AP, with Temperature Probe #3.

Camera #3 Activated 6/15/95 at 0415. Deployed 6/15/95 at Milli-Q with Temperature Probe #2.

Temperature Probes

Four temperature probes were deployed, three at the camera sites and one deployed (twice) at Puffer. The temperature probe at Puffer was recovered during the present cruise and then another was deployed at the same location for summer-long monitoring. Four probes remain on the sea floor to be recovered during the fall cruise.

Temperature Probe #1 Activated 6/7/95 at 2300 with 540 minute delay. Programmed to start logging 6/8/95 at 0800. The data was logged at 4 minute intervals for 48 hours (720 readings), then switched to a 5 second cycle for 3 hours (2161 readings), then back to a 4 minute cycle until the memory was full (978 readings). The probe was deployed 6/8/95 at Puffer and recovered on 6/13/95.

Temperature Probe #2 Activated 6/9/95 at 0040 with a 500 minute delay. Programmed to start logging on 6/9/95 at 0900. The data logs every 2250 seconds (37.5 minutes) for 100 days. Deployed 6/10/95 at Milli-Q with Camera #1, which was replaced 6/15/95 by Camera #3.

Temperature Probe #3 Activated 6/14/95 at 1553 with a delay of 1207 minutes. Programmed to start logging 6/15/95 at 1200 with the 100 day logging cycle. Launched via elevator 6/14/95 at 1740. Deployed 6/15/95 at Canneport, marker AP, with Camera #2.

Temperature Probe #4 Activated 6/14/95 at 2025 with 935 minute delay. Programmed to start logging 6/15/95 at 1200 with the 100 day logging cycle. Deployed 6/15/95 at Puffer.

Temperature Probe #5 Temperature Probe #1 reactivated 6/16/95 at 2135 with 865 minute delay. Programmed to start logging 6/17/95 at 1200. A different thermocouple array was used than the one originally deployed with the unit at Puffer. A 4MAT memory board was installed to extend the memory by 32K. The data logs every 1015 seconds (~17 minutes) for 100 days. Launched via elevator 6/17/95 at 0715. Deployed 6/17/95 at Grotto, marker BA, with Camera #1.
